Yard of the Month

Hidden Oak Estates sponsors a Yard of the Month program. The program is designed to recognize those homeowners who have spent extra time and effort to maintain their property and keep their yards looking so beautiful.

All award winners receive an official Hidden Oak Estates “Yard of the Month” sign to place in their yard for the duration of the month. The winner is featured in the next community newsletter and a picture of their home is displayed on the website.

Hidden Oak Estates congratulates all Yard of the Month award winners. All homeowners are encouraged to join the efforts to keep their yard attractive, which enhances the overall curb appeal of the entire neighborhood! Thanks.

YARD OF THE MONTH

PROGRAM GUIDELINES

PROGRAM STRUCTURE

· The current winner selects the next month’s winner.

· The same yard cannot be selected more than once in the same rolling 12-

month calendar period. At least 12 months must elapse between awards for the

same yard. Past Yard of the month winners are posted on the web site. This

promotes the rotation of the selection throughout the neighborhood.

· The winner earns the honor of displaying the Yard of the Month sign in their

yard for one month starting on 1^st. An announcement will be made at the next

Regular Homeowners’ Meeting.

· Since the intention of Yard of the Month is to promote “curb appeal”, the front

and side yards will be the primary consideration.

· Yard of the Month winners must be current with their Association dues and in

compliance with HOA covenants and City regulations.

· Neighbors interested in being chosen are welcome to contact the current winner

in order to solicit consideration.

· Winners are encouraged to notify the HOA when they have received the

bragging rights of Yard of the Month.

RECOMMENDED SELECTION CRITERIA FOR YARD OF MONTH

Factors include the overall appearance, tidiness and neatness of the front of the property as evidenced by the following:

A. Yard Maintenance

(1) A healthy lawn neatly mowed and edged.

(2) Pruned and trimmed shrubs and trees.

(3) Healthy plants. All plantings must be living, no plastic, and silk or

artificial plants.

(4) Minimal weeds in flowerbeds and dead plants removed.

(5) Yard free of debris and clutter.

B. Design and Landscaping

(1) Beautification efforts including flowers, trees, and shrubs.

(2) Use of color and/or texture.

(3) Inviting look of front entryway (hanging baskets, pots, cleanliness

etc.).

(4) Originality/creativity (any special touches of the owner i.e., yard art,

bird feeders, water feature etc.).

(5) Overall aesthetic appeal, an inspiration to others in the neighborhood.

(6) Night appearance including accent lighting, safety lighting, visible

interior lighting, etc.

Summary Note

While lack of adherence to the criteria above does not necessarily result in a disqualification, these principles offer general guidelines that should be recognized as part of the Hidden Oak Estates Yard of the Month program.
